First Vision Visit?

When is this most commonly done? I don’t remember having my eyes checked until I was like 3rd grade. But both my husband and I have congenital astigmatism and need glasses, so I am wondering if we need to get my son checked sooner. I am asking his pediatrician at our upcoming appointment but was wondering what the norm is.

Our pediatrician checks their eyes using some app or something l at well checks.

I think in North Carolina we do it right before kindergarten unless there's a reason for concern earlier. My husband and I both have terrible vision, so I'm planning to take my March baby in the next couple of months for the first time and then yearly after that.

My girl has glasses so she's already had eye check ups. But we saw a noticeable issue, it wasn't a general check up.

It's a bit different here I think. They're supposed to check a bit at the yearly check up.
But our daughter seemed to struggled a bit and have a lazy eye, so we decided to get it checked now instead of waiting. Aaaand she's getting glasses now 😅
