How do you teach your little ones about God?

I have a 4 year old, we watch VeggieTales and other shows that are about God, and he goes to sunday school. The other day i asked him do you know who God is? And he said no.

So i want to start teaching him more but don't know how.

We have a VeggieTales bible stories book but the stories seem too long for him, he will lose interest half way through.

I have a 1 year old as well so i want to teach them both now that theyre young.

Sn: i dont expect him to know who God is, but i would like him to know more. Like basic stories like noahs ark etc. Right now from what ive asked him seems like he doesnt know any. If i show him a pic he does remember he heard about it at church but not to know part of the story.
