Toddler bed 🤯

I know I’m probably late to the game but my 2.5 year old decided he was done with play pen (he used to sleep 7pm-8am in it).

He has been choosing his toddler bed the last week but is falling asleep at 7 and waking around 1-2am and getting out of bed and hysterically screaming and crying for us.

I’ve tried laying with him till he falls asleep (takes 3+ hours), I’ve tried bringing him in bed with us (he will not sleep, he starts playing), and recently going in reassuring him and tucking him back in. Last night from 2am to 6am was spent doing the tucking in routine over and over, and everytime as soon as I leave the room he would get out of bed and scream, cry, hit the door, and call for us.

We both work full time and lastnight I cried with him, does anyone have any help or insight what are we doing wrong 😫😫😫
