How do I tell my dad I got scammed online?

I’m 16. About a month ago I asked my dad if I could get something online. I just wanted to clarify I got his permission. Since finding out I got scammed, I’ve filed a report, but I’m not sure how I can get compensation for a card that’s not mine, therefore he would have to call the bank.

Backstory:

I wanted to get a specific pet cage for a reasonable price online. The website I found offered the cheapest price with an advertisement of the exact same cage I was looking for. The website looked legit. It wasn’t until recently that I started wondering where my package was, so I went to my email inbox to look for the receipt and maybe track the shipping. I couldn’t find anything, I had never received a confirmation email, but the payment still shows up on his card because it was paid for. I took a screenshot of the product I was buying on the day I purchased it, which is how I remember the store name and the layout. After things weren’t adding up, I checked online to see if this place was even legit, and a ton of other people have been scammed as well. When I googled the website today there were no results, so it might’ve been handled already or reported if it is no longer running. I’m not sure which country this is from or any other details of the site/scammers.

It was $191.79, so it’s not like I can just let this go. He will be wondering where the cage is and I don’t how to tell him I got scammed with HIS credit card. I know I have to because it’s the safe thing to do, especially if I used a credit card and he needs to be the one to contact the bank because again, it’s his card. It’s also been over a month, so I’m not even sure if it’s too late to do anything.

I’m scared to tell him because if he finds out that I’ve been scammed I feel like he won’t trust me to use it anymore. Plus, a lot has changed within the last two months with his job, so money has been an extra stressful topic lately.

What do I tell him? Will the bank give us a compensation for what was lost?
