Can you get in trouble for not seeing a doctor when you’re pregnant ?

So I’m 20 weeks pregnant (in USA) and today I was told that I’m diabetic, not just GD but like actual diabetes… I’m supposed to start seeing an specialist for it but I can’t afford it since I don’t have insurance, I applied for Medicaid but I was denied cause my husband makes a little over the limit, I can’t work cause I’m in the middle of getting my green card and work permit, we pay our bills but that’s about it, we can’t afford anything else besides that, I’ve been seeing a doctor at a clinic that charges you based on a scale but even that is getting to expensive for us, the ultrasounds are already too much and apparently I have to have them more often now… when I had my son 4 years ago my husband wasn’t working which is how I got insurance back then… but this time is a lot harder.

Could I get in some sort of problem for not going to the specialist? I’m planning on monitoring my sugar levels as well my diet just like I did with my first pregnancy.

I’m so lost 😞

Also I tried getting private insurance but they don’t cover pregnancy in full… the guy literally told me “it’s like getting in car accident and trying to get insurance afterwards, I’m sorry we don’t do that” and hung up on me…
