Gender surprise struggles

brooke

Has anyone here not found out the gender until the birth and had family members struggle with it?

To me it's the most exciting thing not knowing my baby's gender, and anticipating going into labor because I'll get to find out for the first time. I am also very excited for family to come see the baby and find out the gender right infront of our eyes in a more intimate setting.

BUT a majority of my family and my husband's family are struggling with not knowing the gender. I've been asked by multiple family members to have the doctor put it in an envelope and "give it just to them" so they can know the secret. I usually don't care what other people think when it comes to my abnormal way of doing things. But I'm getting frustrated. Why can't people just accept our choice to wait and decide. Does it have something to do with the fact that most people just wouldn't be able to not know something so big for so long?

Any tips on how to deal with family who don't see it the way I do.
