UTI question

Okay so years ago I went to the walk in doctors office by my house because I suspected I had a uti.

I remember being in the room with the lady and she was asking me questions ya know the usual ones.

After that, she had me get up on the table without my pants & undies and stuck a speculum inside me. I don’t remember why she wanted to put it in but is that normal ?

Is it normal to get a speculum exam thing when all you went in for was a uti?

(Also just to clarify, I’m a virgin, so it wasn’t sex related. I’m just confused Bc now I think I have a fear of them 😳 Bc that shit hurted !!😭😂 after she did it was like “wtf” & I felt open the next couple days)
