Anyone becoming a milk donor?

I’m just curious who all is doing or thinking of becoming a milk donor. I just got my bloodwork approved and will be making my first drop tomorrow. How has your experiences been donating?

Ive never donated through a bank but ive donated through local moms in a facebook group

Just don’t forget to let them know about your diet. I donated locally on Facebook, possibly different? But I remember donating over 2000oz my first 3-4 months of pumping and still making enough to pump for my baby! I am a milk machine and I don’t even like breastfeeding lol

I donated privately last time.  I didn’t like that we were charged $14/oz of milk from the milk bank, that we only used 5ml of, when they got the milk for free.  The nicu used the remaining 25 ml on other babies, and I’m sure we all got charged for that same oz that was shared.  They said it’s to cover operating costs but that seems insane.  I was happy the option was there for my preemie but the cost was so excessive.  Then, I also found out they don’t give all the milk to babies.  Some some goes to adults, and some to research.  I decided if I was doing all the work, I wanted some control over where it was going.  So I donated over 2000 oz to other area preemies ❤️

I donated 550 oz of milk a few years ago when I was exclusively pumping with my first. Super easy process. My region uses Mothers Milk bank. It was a great feeling knowing that all the effort was going to a good cause.
