Help! How did y’all pick your baby name?

Question

First time mom. Baby boy is due in early December. And I am having trouble figuring out a name. My partner has a speech impediment that makes saying anything with an “R” difficult. So any tips or name suggestions? How did you pick your name?

We have two boys. Neither was named before they were born. It took 5 days to name the first, 3 days to name the second. We actually had the nurses and staff vote on names for the second baby 😂

No tips but in my culture we wait until baby is born and spend time with them to get ensure the same fits. My child didn't have a name for 3 days 😂

My husband and I talked about names a lot, but only after we found out we were having a girl. I made lists of names and he listed some names too. We both got to veto the other person’s names if we didn’t like it. I think both parents should really like the name chosen. Eventually my husband said a name and I really liked it too and that was that.

Ooh, thats tricky. Chose names that both of us liked, ones that didn't remind us of someone we hated. Go on all the lists, google, baby center, this app...  :) you still have time. Don't stress. Colton, Chase, Dustin, Michael, Mason, Luca, Levi, Nicholas, Nicco, Matteo, Kevin, Cole, Dylan, Jesse, Justin, so many that don't have a R. :)

In addition to praying about our kiddos’ names, my husband and I like to get a feel for who the baby is in utero and find a name that fits who they are. We named our first daughter “Eleanor” because we felt she was bubbly and happy and would bring joy wherever she goes. Her name means “bright shining light”. My second daughter, Margaret, felt uniquely precious and special in a different way than her sister, so we chose a name that spoke of something being precious and rare. Her name means “pearl”. There’s no right or wrong way in choosing a name, this is just what we’ve settled on. Good luck and congratulations!!

We had a list on our phone of possible names. Every time we heard a name (when watching a show/movie, the waiters name at a restaurant, etc.) We would jot it down and discuss it later. This worked a ton better than just scrolling through the top 1000 baby names.
For middle name, we decided that our kids will have either a family name or a Saint's name. Oddly enough, narrowing down the possibilities like this made it a ton easier to pick a middle name.

We gave my son my grandpas middle name. It might be fun looking at grandparent and great grandparents names first and middle and seeing if there is anything you like on either side.

For our girls name i just knew the name I wanted and my partner liked it thankfully. When it comes to boy names it’s way harder though because I don’t LOVE anything I’ve heard so far. So really struggling with that.

There’s an app like tinder but for baby names. Both you and your partner download kinder and sign up. Then you swipe left or right and it will notify you of any matches.

We looked at baby name lists for months and then we found Azalea and fell in love with it we both agreed that it was the name we wanted for our daughter. Look at lists, avoid names with R and make sure you pick a name you both love.
