Toddler with RSV and I’m 39 weeks pregnant
Oh man we’ve been riding a roller coaster of emotion and worry over here. Im 39 weeks, original due date of 11/3 with scheduled csection on 10/29. I’ve been anxiously watching the people just beyond my daycare bubble getting sick with cold and then RSV and then of course my actual daycare circle and low and behold - my 3 year old tested positive yesterday on 10/26.
My pediatrician was worried enough about baby #2 that she talked to by OBGYN and we moved my csection to 11/3. With 5 extra days my toddler should be on day 14/15 of RSV by the time she meets baby. Still terribly worried about the 4 adults in my home getting RSV delayed and passing it to newborn. Originally pediatrician asked if my parents could take my toddler away immediately and for 2 weeks to protect me from RSV as well as baby. My parents live a plane ride away and I just couldn’t imagine not having my mom around for my babys first week (and my csection recovery) so I’m at least glad we could move the baby’s delivery. I’m thankful I’ve been way more comfortable at the end of this prefacing than my first and that I have help from my parents since my kiddo is obv not in daycare this week.
There is some extra worry because I take immunosuppressants that may or may not affect baby’s immune status. Such a dark cloud over this time…Also not fun spending last week of pregnancy taking care of very sick toddler. Hoping I can stay healthy 😩😬 any commiserations or words of wisdom mamas?
