Birth plans ?

Hey mamas did y’all make a birth plan ? Is it really necessary ? I’m 32 weeks and everyone been telling me to make one but I don’t know much about it .

Nope. Plans always go out the window. 
My only plan was to go natural - Nd even that went out the window and they said baby was not descending and I needed an epidural to relax my muscles.

There’s a lot more that goes into birth preferences than just whether you want a natural delivery or not.  I loved mine but it didn’t even make it to the room.  I delivered less than 20 minutes after getting to the hospital.  Luckily, my OB and I had discussed a lot of my preferences ahead of time.
A visual plan makes it really easy for doctors and nurses to glance at it and get an idea of what you want.

My birth plan was as follows:
1-get the baby out safely 
2-give me the epidural as soon as possible

No point. No doc is gonna take the time to read it or remember it. Just advocate for yourself during labor and say yes or no to things based on what you’re comfortable with. But birth is unpredictable and most plans go out the window anyway

I’m the odd one out and love birth plans. Mine for my third in May is: laboring in the tubs, intermittent monitoring, freely move around during labor, asking before checking my cervix, I will catch baby, delayed cord clamping. 
Now obviously if an emergency were to arise it would be do whatever you need to do time, but this is assuming it’s a straight forward labor and delivery like my other two have been.

It helped me work through many different scenarios, so it was more helpful for me and my partner than it was for my provider. If I am able to labor naturally here are ABC options I'd like to try. If I am induced here is what I'd prefer XYZ. If I have a C-section here is what I'd prefer etc. It just helped me feel confident and prepared for whatever situation I could be in so that if something did come up we weren't trying to make decisions on the spot (that seems stressful to me).
I also included things like who is taking care of our dogs while we are at the hospital, who is watching the kids, what is our preference for visitors afterwards, who do I need to text our announcement to first so I don't forget any important family members.

I’m not doing one. I’m a go with the flow. If I need pain control I’ll get an epidural, if I need a C-section then that’s whats gotta happen. I told my doc just to make sure o don’t hemorrhage.

I haven’t. I asked my doctor if I should have one and she said she was superstitious and didn’t like them 🤣 
I just asked her to try to avoid a cesarean if possible and she’s cool with that.

The more specific expectations you have, the more likely you are to be disappointed when you look back on that day. Barring any major personal value conflicts or medical reasons (no blood products, allergies, etc)….. everyone’s plan should basically be “go home with a healthy baby. The end.”

Yes but i forgot it on the way to the hospital and the only things i didnt really want were things that happened anyway so it was pointless for us to make one. I really only wanted one in case my vbac turned into an emergency csection. So i had one for a vaginal birth and one for a csection
