If you were spanked growing up what age did your parents stop?
Did your parents spank you as a teenager?

I was spanked until maybe 11 or 12. I’ll never do it to my kids. It instilled a fear of my father in me that continues to negatively impact our relationship.

I was BEAT. There’s a big damn difference to me. My mother was a narcissistic, mean, abusive woman. Her last time putting hands on me (or attempting to) I was 17 & busted her ass! It wasn’t my proudest moment, but I was sick of her hitting on me because she was angry & couldn’t control her emotions.

My siblings and I were spanked, but my parents ALWAYS had their lid on. If a spanking needed to be administrated, and they were riled up about the misbehaviour, then they took a second to calm themselves down. I was spanked until probably somewhere around 13 (yes, I was a difficult child, I know now I put my parents through the wringer) but no. It did not negatively impact our relationship- my mom and I are almost like sisters sometimes, and I love and respect my dad deeply, there’s no communication issues or cowering in fear.

More than just spanked unfortunately, but I consider spanking physical abuse and would never do this to my kids or anyone for that matter. You’re three times bigger than your child, you’re unmatched. Why would anyone willingly teach their kids that hitting someone else is a good idea?

My dad hit me with his belt when i was 6. I was absolutely terrified of him after that. I still don’t have a clue what i did to deserve it either. 
When My mum found out she made him bag up all his belts and we all went to the local rubbish tip so i could see him throw them away.
