Repeat csection or vbac?

Question

I have the option to decide but have no clue what to do. Currently 30 weeks with a boy, when he’s due I would have had my twins 2.5 years ago via csection because baby a was breech. I had no complication and had a super quick, great recovery. I also don’t want to get induced and I keep seeing that seems to happen a lot with vbacs…
Any stories or advice would be great!

I had a vbac 2.5 years after my section. I too had a really great experience with my cesarean but you cannot compare the healing - the healing after the vbac was soooo much quicker. Also I loved the whole birthing experience and getting to do skin to skin with her. It was cool.

I just had my 3rd successful VBAC 2 weeks ago and have never been induced for any of my births. I’m glad I had my VBACs and my recovery was faster and better to me. The birth experience was also beautiful for my husband as he was able to catch the babies coming out, which he wanted to do. If you want to go for a VBAC, go for it. 🤗

I also did not want to be induced! I chose (like a week before my due date) to attempt a VBAC if I went into labor naturally or go for the csection if I went past what my doctor was comfortable with me doing (she didn't want me to go past my due date because of how big I was measuring). I did ask for an ultrasound to determine baby's position and also tested negative for group b strep which helped me decide to try for a vbac!
I was lucky enough to go into labor naturally and had a successful vbac at 39+3 days! I did decide to go for an epidural before the doctor released my waters at the hospital which helped tremendously to relax and let things happen!!

I had a csection with my first and with my second I booked a c section for 41 weeks and I told myself that if I went into spontaneous labour before that I would take it as it comes. I allowed my body to do its thing (labour began at 38 weeks but she wasn’t actually born until 39 weeks) and I was pushed to the absolute limits, I wouldn’t take any of it back even now. I ended up with almost every intervention and complication you can think of which I won’t describe, you don’t need to hear about it but I’m still glad I did it, it feels like a wonderful triumph of womanhood. I really wanted to try my best for a VBAC because I knew if I didn’t manage it with my second that would be it, it would be immediate c-section next time around. Here I am pregnant with my third and I’m thinking about it all over again and I’m happy to have a choice, I’ll probably do the same again. Book a section for 40-41 weeks but if I go into labour before that I will go with the flow.

I’m the minority apparently but I hated labor and would not want a VBAC even if I was a candidate for one 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I don’t know if it would have been different  if I wasn’t induced.

Vbac! It’s safer than another major surgery. Especially if you plan to have more kids. My csection recovery wasn’t bad at all but I’d still choose vbac any day. I had my vbac 16 months after my csection and plan to have another in May

Had the same dilemma. I had a c section almost 7 years ago due to multiple issues with baby. Here I am now and I opted for a VBAC. My doctors are very supportive and said I can change my answer at anytime. I have made them aware I am comfortable of having a VBAC as long as I go into labor before 40 weeks and will opt for a c section or induction if I got past it. My doctor said she understood because my previous child passed away and the risk of a still born increases.

I had a repeat c section. And honestly, I'm glad I did. I have a history of back and hip issues, so my doctor and I decided to do a c section for my first. After seeing a doctor and doing some therapy, I was cleared for a vbac if I wanted one. I chose the c section. My son was measuring large, I was very uncomfortable and in pain, and it made sense. I knew what to expect. 
I started going into labor on my way to the hospital for my c section. The nurses thought it was hilarious. Regular contractions, stronger and closer together, the works. I did not hit active labor, but I was well on my way. 
My recovery sucked, but not because of the c section. I had 2 allergic reactions, recurrent mastitis, and PPD hit hard as soon as I got home. The scar healed very nicely.

I had an amazing vbac experience at 20 months after my first cesarean birth in this June. I really wanted a vbac to feel what a natural birth was like and to not have to recover from major abdominal surgery. Also, I thought a vaginal delivery gives some benefits to your baby by going through your vaginal tract and being exposed to all your natural bacteria and microbiom. My recovery was so much easier with a vaginal birth and it was a wild experience to push a human out of you. Good luck with whatever you decide is right for you
