Extra slow flow nipples?

Nena • 👧🏼• 👶🏻

I am a FTM and my baby will be a month tomorrow. Unfortunately, my milk supply has plummeted so we have to switch to formula. We have tried MAM, Dr. Brown’s and NUK bottles, all in the 0 nipple size, I’ve even tried to use the bottles they give you at the hospital. My baby is having issues eating, when she eats, the milk is spilling on the side of her mouth, she’s making clicking sounds cuz she can’t latch good on the nipple since the flow is too fast for her, she coughs when milk builds up in her mouth and sometimes she gags because it’s just too much for her. Pace feeding does not work with her as she experiences the same difficulty no matter how we try to feed her. I need help, idk what to do anymore. I’ve tried looking up different nipples and bottles but have not had any luck. She gets frustrated and cries the whole time while feeding and then gives up. I’m worried she’s not eating enough. 🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭😭😭 Has anyone dealt with this? Does anyone know how I can help her feed slower?

If you want to continue BF try clery sage oil mixed with olive oil and rut the mix on ur breast not on or close to nipples and that helped me, also I added black seed oil and it also helped. But if u have chosen to do formula, the clicking sound makes me think she doesn't have a good latch on the bottle or she may be tongue tied, has anyone checked her for this? It could be the reason ur breast milk has reduced too. Reach out to a local lactation or ped to see if they can help get baby feeding correctly.

Ok, just sounded like you based low supply on what you were pumping. And for anyone reading this later on its important to know that's not a good thing to do(unless exclusively pumping).

I agree. I used fenugreek and it was like it did the opposite.

My baby was born severely jaundiced and her levels kept rising because she wasn’t getting enough food in her in order for her kidneys to work efficiently which is why we were instructed to use formula after every breastfeeding session. I’ve spoken and seen and visited lactation consultants throughout these weeks (one of them is a good friend and a coworker of mine) and they ALL agree that I am not producing what she needs so with that being said, she is on formula now because she needs to eat or else she will starve. Formula was obviously not my first choice but I’m doing what I need to do in order for my baby to eat. We’re no longer placing her on breasts because nothing is coming out at all

Do you want to stop breastfeeding? Did babe latch well to the boob? What makes you think your supply plummeted? Was babe not having enough wet diapers?

I was breast feeding at first, she always had a great strong latch. My supply has gone down, now I can’t even get 1 oz of milk with both boobs combined. She was and is still making good wet diapers but her jaundice levels were high so her pediatrician wanted us to start supplementing 2 oz of formula after every breastfeeding session (they instructed us to do 20 mins of breastfeeding) to get her kidneys to work more to get her jaundice levels down which did work
