Can you ovulate before you get a positive ovulation test strip?

Question

I feel like I ovulate before I actually get a positive test strip. Because I get cramps around that time. Could that be possible? Or is it 100% accurate when you get a positive ovulation test strip.

Ovulation tests don’t confirm ovulation, all they do is tell you if you’re currently experiencing a surge of the Lutenizing Hormone (LH). This surge comes before ovulation, so a positive LH test usually comes 12-48 hours before an egg is actually released.
However, you can have an LH surge and not ovulate, or have a surge long enough that you test positive after ovulation is already over, or you could ovulate without testing positive at all. 
Ovulation cramps also don’t confirm ovulation, they can occur before, during, and even after ovulation. They’re a great secondary sign, but you can’t rely on them to tell you when you’re actually ovulating.

Ovulation cramps can start happening before you actually ovulate.
But it also depends on how dark the tests were at the time. I've missed getting a blazing positive before because I waited too long in between to test - I had a fairly dark test and then the next time I tested it was way light again. But I didn't miss the ovulation because you don't ovulate the minute you get a positive, that's the indication you're GOING to be ovulating.

Yes it’s possible you are missing your surge. But you can get cramping prior to, during and after ovulation. And opk’s only detect your LH surge. You would have to also temp to confirm if/when ovulation has taken place.
