Lactose sensitivity ???

Question

How did you know your baby had a sensitivity to lactose? I’m just taking a quede on our babies symptoms but he’s about to be 4 months and this is like the 3rd time I’ve had to switch formula.

Lots of mucus in her stool. Lots of spit up/vomiting. She was extremely gassy all the time. Would cry during feeds. Since we switched her to alimentum she’s a very different baby!

My son was constantly fussy 24/7 and always would spit up. We put him on hypoallergenic formula. We tried similac and the target brand. The target brand seems to work better for him. After 24hr you can see a change in his behavior, he was so much happier. My pediatrician did say that some babies get over this by 6 months.

My baby was very gassy, bad reflux, puffy eyes, and developed a rash. We switched to elecare (so expensive and hard to find!) and all the symptoms went away. I also breastfeed so I had to completely remove dairy, oatmeal, soy, and eggs from my diet. It was recommended that we visit an allergist before starting on solids.

My baby has an allergy to cow’s milk protein and soy. His symptoms were mucus and blood in his stool and lots of spit up. Since I cut cow’s milk and soy out of my diet the mucus and blood have stopped and the spit up has lessened. Just FYI, many babies with a cow’s milk protein allergy are also allergic to soy.

Can they be sensitive to lactose if exclusively breastfeeding? (Lactose that I may drink and passes through breastmilk)

Everything she said. I finally went with my gut and gave my little man a formula I picked out from the beginning Bobbie - organic and “gentle” on tummies! Similac was horrible on my little man and was soo miserable after 1 month I could NOT take it anymore seeing my little guy in pain so gave him Bobbie and stuck to it no matter what anyone said! And HE IS a HAPPY baby now no tears from drinking milk, less spit up, less gas, less everything!
