First foods at 4 months?

Please no hate I’m a ftm. My pedi talked about starting my daughter on cereal at 4 months. My daughter is not quite 4 months, she will be on the 31st. Is it ok to give her a taste of this on thanksgiving ? Not a lot just a dime size amount 🙂 she has head control and when I eat she stares at me eating like she’s wondering what I’m doing . There is no grabbing for the food yet

Personally this is baby number #4 for me my daughter just turned 4 months on the 24th and has already had baby food and oatmeal 🤷🏽‍♀️ what I/you do isn't for everyone and people will always agree/disagree 🙂 but she's your baby you do what you feel is best 🤍

My little guy is 4 months and I started him a couple of weeks ago on oatmeal cereal mixed with fruit (we did a week of banana and a week of apple sauce) now we are doing pears. He loves it and is doing great with it. He is a supported sitter with full head and neck control.

I just started my 4 month old on solids and he LOVES it! So far we have had banana, pear, carrot and pumpkin. I mix mine with breast milk to water it down so he can digest it a little better and I do it as needed. I make the purées and when I’m ready I scoop some into his bowl, mix it and give it to him and if he wants more then I do more (I don’t feed him more than what would be considered a jars worth) and I do that once a day. I give him the same food for three days in a row to see if he actually likes it and to be sure he doesn’t have any allergic reactions to it and then I just move to the next food!

I got the OK from my pediatrician to start purees at her 4 month check. I skipped the cereal crap and started making my own purees. The first couple of weeks she didnt know how to swallow it was more for fun lol but this week she really started enjoying eating. I made my own sweet potato puree and she loves it! Try to make you own to make sure theres no crap in it! Its super easy!

I started testing homemade sweet potatoes with my 4 month old a few weeks ago. Mostly because he would just stare me down every time I would sit down to eat and then started to move towards grabbing my spoon/fork etc. He took it pretty well and we about two tablespoons worth the first time. I say trust your gut. If you feel that your baby is ready, why not. He’s almost 5 months now and we just went to emerge a week ago and the doc advised to start him on solids but make it a bit on the water side. 
I also come from a culture where solids are introduced pretty early so I felt pretty comfortable doing so.

My son’s pediatrician said we could start letting hi taste new foods. Not full meals or spoonfuls but just a little taste here and there of our foods, a new food a week.

Personally I wouldn’t. The way the rice cereal is prepared for the first feeding is more formula/breast milk than anything so it’s super watery. Overtime you make it thicker. This is already thick and a 4 month old wouldn’t have the practice to eat it. There’s no way my now 2 year old daughter would have been able to swallow this at 4 months old. Totally my experience and opinion though! 😀

My son eats 4oz of baby food about an hour after his morning bottle and 4oz of baby food at night before bed with a bottle as well. If he doesn’t get his baby food he will throw a fit he’s smart and knows when it’s about time for food. He also showed all readiness signs before I started foods and he does amazing with it he eats like a pro!

At my sons four month appointment I talked to his pediatrician and based on his development and how interested he was in our food, she said that she believes he was ready to start baby food. We’ve been doing baby cereal and fruits since then without issue.
