11 weeks ok for first OB visit??

Hi ladies,
 This is my first pregnancy, and my ob can't get me in for my first appointment until I'm just over 11 weeks. I'm 33, not high risk as far as I know (no previous miscarriages or other med issues).  The scheduler said between 8 and 11 weeks is normal for first visit. Is this true? Should I advocate for a sooner visit or switch providers to potentially be seen sooner? The other factor is my original obgyn just left practice and isn't practicing elsewhere so I'm effectively not established with any ob and that makes me a new patient. Annoying to say the least. 
   Anyone else wait this long for first Dr visit? Am I overly worrying or if you were me would you seek something sooner? Thanks!

That was normal for my two pregnancies and my 2nd one I was considered high risk as well. If they are good OBs I would stay, but if there is better then I'd consider moving. But otherwise it's pretty standard for this to happen.

My first appointment is at 12 weeks. My last pregnancy I went to a different office and they did 10 weeks. But the new doctor is supposed to be amazing so I'm sucking up the extra long wait 🙃

My OB sees you like the week after a first positive.  My first apt is at exactly 4 weeks and then I go every 4 weeks up until the 28th week.

Normal! But I understand the stress. My first pregnancy I was seen just over 9 weeks. This time my first appointment- I thought was 10weeks, but baby is measuring 8. So definitely understandable. The waiting until the next appointment also seems like a very very long time lol

Yup, very common! My OB won’t see anyone before 8 weeks as the earliest, but is okay with having first appointment up to 12 weeks. My first appointment with this pregnancy was just past 9 weeks.

Congrats!! That’s normal. I think I was around 11 weeks for my first ultrasound appointment. I will say, though, I had my “first appointment” scheduled for that date and then found out it was a “confirmation appointment.” Which meant they had you pee on a stick and confirm you’re pregnant and the second appointment was the ultrasound to confirm there’s actually something in there. I ended up scheduling with a different doctor at the practice for the confirmation appointment at around 8 weeks and I’m glad I did. I wanted to do the prenatal testing, I think it’s NIPT, and you have to do it by 13 weeks (maybe? Around there?). After the first ultrasound it was this whole ordeal to schedule the NIPT testing in time and they were like, “YOU ONLY HAVE TWO WEEKS TO GET IT DONE.” No kidding, huh? This seems like something YOU should have known when you told me 11 weeks was a totally acceptable time for a confirmation appointment let alone the first ultrasound. I have no idea if other doctors do that ridiculous first/second appointment nonsense but might be worth calling about prenatal testing and getting that on the books before the appointment if that’s something you’re interested in doing.
