Amber teething necklace?

Does anyone have any experience with using amber teething necklaces with their babies? Did they help at all?

I've heard nothing but bad things about them. The fda has a huge warning out about them because a lot of babies are dying from them.

The American Academy of Pediatrics strongly warns parents against using amber teething necklaces. On their webpage for amber necklaces, they remind parents “suffocation is the leading cause of death for children under a year old and among the top five causes of death for children between the ages of 1 and 4. 
If your child’s gums are swollen and tender, gently rub or massage the gums with your finger, or give your child a teething ring made of firm rubber to chew. Make sure the teething ring is not frozen. If the object is too hard, it can hurt your child’s gums. Parents should supervise their children so they don’t accidentally choke on the teething ring.
