Why does America have a high shooting rate but still allow gun shops?!!!

I probably sound very dumb right now but all I see is articles about the USA having a high shooting rate etc. then why are gun shops still accessible? Apparently it's easier to get a gun then a job 🥴 I get you need a licence but that doesn't change anything?

Closing gun shops aren’t going to stop them from being purchased illegally. Im glad to know I have a legal firearm to defend myself. At least this way if I shoot to kill its self-defense and I wont spend 15-20yrs in jail for felony firearm.

No, it’s because our “forefathers” (who truly only had single shot weapons) decided that everyone has the right to have these firebreathing, skin, bone and organ shattering weapons. The world was completely different back then, but out of “respect” (read: cherry picking what we want from the constitution so we can keep power) we keep this antiquated rule-even with the changing culture and danger of firearms. 🤷🏻‍♀️

There are so many guns in circulation in the US that closing gun shops would do nothing; most Americans already own guns so it’d still be very easy to purchase one on the down low. It’s important to remember that people are going to kill each other regardless. In the US, murders are mostly by gun. In the UK, by knife.

There are more guns than people in the US. Closing gun shops would do absolutely nothing. Some people in the US believe that their personal freedoms are more important than anyone or anything, including the lives of others.

There is a constitutional right to have them and a demand  for them by law abiding citizens so people sell them. Simple business.

There would be insane riots if that happened and it would be very dangerous. People here are pretty crazy about guns and their right to have them. My husband included, I'm not so much for them myself.
