7 month old rejecting Solids

L • She/her

Hey all! I was wondering if any of you mamas had a similar experience and had any insight.

My daughter is 7 months old, EBF and bottle fed during the day at daycare. When she was around 6 months old, we got the go ahead to start her on solids, purées and the plan was to move BLW once she was more comfortable.

She did great to start, we did rice cereal, oatmeal, apples, bananas, and were starting carrots. She has been fussy and one morning, I thought she had pink eye, so we brought her to her ped. She was diagnosed with an ear infection and we were given antibiotics. Three doses in, we had given her some carrots and then her normal feed and put her down for the night. About 2 hours later, she began violent throwing up, carrots everywhere, until she was dry heaving. We called our doc who assured us the antibiotics were probably bothering her so we stopped solids until she was done with the meds.

Fast forward ten days, she’s done with her meds. We try again with oatmeal, which she loved. She didn’t have a lot but seemed okay, so we put her down to sleep. About 2 hours after, she woke up again violently throwing up. Next day, I bring her back to the doctor, who says her ears look great, she looks perfect. Puts down the vomiting as a stomach bug and told us to try again.

My daughter now refuses to eat anything by spoon. We tried all the things she liked before, but she gets visibly upset and cries every time we’ve tried to feed her since. I tried letting her feed herself, putting the food on a mat for her to play with, nothing.

I don’t know what to do. I hate that she seems to be traumatized by the vomiting and I don’t want her to fall behind. Anyone else had to deal with this?
