A name that no longer fits them?

Has anyone named their child something that no longer fits them?  I have a fear that I’ll name my next child and then he/she will end up not fitting the name as they grow into their personality. It’s such a weird fear though because I have twin boys and they fit their names perfectly so not sure where the fear is coming from with this next child.

So this happened to me specifically because my oldest son is trans. It was honestly one of the hardest things for me to accept because I was still so in love with the name I gave him at birth. In the end I had to embrace the fact that part of raising a person and not just a child is that they will grow up and make choices that you have no say in. My point is, name your kid something that you hope will fit them forever, but don’t stress about it, they might use their middle name or a nickname or rename themselves entirely and that’s ok.

I think my daughters name fits her perfectly, but she is only 2.5 so that could change. I don’t feel like I’ve ever met someone and though “their name isn’t right” as an adult though so this isn’t something I worry about much.

I love my daughters name, I just wish I had spelled it differently. Her name is Marlee and I wish I would have just done the “ey” ending because now I have to spell her name for everyone and it was really trendy to have the double e ending when she was born. That’s the only thing I regret. But I don’t think I’ve met many people that didn’t match their name, even if it was a very unique name.
