What do you do in the winter?

Mamas, what do most of you do in the winter when it’s cold out and you’re not supposed to put a coat on your child while in the car seat? Right now we pack his thick coat everywhere we go but put on a light jacket for him and wrap him in a blanket when we take him to the car. Is that what you do or do you just put the thick coat on your child and then take it off before you put him in the car seat? Any suggestions?

My daughter wears a close fitting fleece jacket and hat and sometimes gloves usually then a blanket after she is buckled in, if we are going to be outside I bring a heavier jacket, if we are just going somewhere where she will only be between a warm car and a warm store, house etc for a few minutes at most then the fleece is usually enough.

We use blankets or we have car seat ponchos. If we are going to be outside for awhile I will pack their coats and just put it on whenever we get there.

I keep blankets in the car since they can't wear jackets, it still keeps them warm and I put my kids jackets on once I get where I'm going
