Covid positive at 18 weeks pregnant? Freaking out.

My mother in law tested positive last Tuesday or so, fiance tested positive Friday. I woke up short of breath and figured it was the normal pregnancy crap, but just didn’t feel right. So I tested and sure enough I’m Covid positive again. I need some positive stories cause I’m terrified. I am vaccinated minus my booster… just hope baby is okay in there :(

While the messaging is that you’re going to end up hospitalized or worse if you test positive, the data shows you will more than likely have a mild case and recover just fine with some cold symptoms or body aches. Especially being vaccinated. 
Covid is just another virus. It’s novel so we don’t have much immunity built up as a society (yay, vaccines!) so that’s why it has been killing people (mostly with co-morbidities: overweight, hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, etc). Pregnant women get viruses all the time. It will not cross the placenta. Your baby will not get covid. HOWEVER! This is basically a natural booster shot for you. A lot of the data shows natural infection leads to better immunity than a vaccination provides. Either way, your body will produce antibodies and create memory cells that will recognize the base of this virus in the future and be able to protect you or quickly fight it off. Your baby WILL benefit from that part of you being exposed and infected. Don’t panic. You are going to be fine. Call your OB with any concerns or for extra reassurance.

Get yourself an oximeter and a thermometer. You need to keep track of your oxygen levels and make sure your temperature doesn’t go too high.
If your oxygen level gets close to 90, you have to go to the emergency room. Same with your temperature if it goes to high. 
Drink lots of natural coconut water with no sugar added, drink lots of water, eat nutritious foods, and get lots of rest. 
Have virtual consultation with a NP or your midwife. They will prescribe OTC meds and treat it like a cold.
The key is to rest and NOT stressing out. You will be okay!

Agree with first comment. But def consult your OB and if you are nervous about being breathless get an O2 monitor from local pharmacy which can give you peace of mind. I hope you feel better asap!

I had covid early in pregnancy, maybe 9 weeks. I was also fully vaccinated aside from the booster. I was extremely tired and ran a fever but was okay otherwise. My doctor informed me if my fever reached 102 and would not go down to go to the ER, with being pregnant even 102 can be serious long term. I was instructed to take baby aspirin as well. I’d already been taking it due to history of pre-eclampsia so I didn’t ask too much about why to take it, but they advise it for covid during pregnancy as well. I’ve been to my OB since and everything is fine, it didn’t impact the baby at all.
