Do you believe men “become ready” for the woman he wants?

I met this guy. He’s between jobs and said he’s not at a place in his life for anything serious. He said that i have my shit together and he can’t give me what I need right now.  I have been in long term relationships (even a marriage) and his longest relationship was 6 months. I’ve accepted what he said and moved on. But I wonder if that was an excuse or not. Because I feel like If you want to be with someone you would do everything in your power to be with them. Idk. I’m just curious everyone else’s thoughts.

It’s a psychological thing for men to want to have their lives together before settling with someone- having a good job, good income. To me, it’s a good sign; he wants to be a man and not mooch off his woman.

No because forcing yourself to become something for someone else is a awesome way to cause unhappiness. He was being honest because he knows himself enough to k ow he isn't ready for something serious. He knows that is where he is in his life and he had the maturity and honesty to tell you. Him forcing himself to "be ready" is gonna last a bit until he can't keep up the act anymore and then it will be fighting and unhappiness and you asking why he dated you if he wasn't ready. He one day will be ready but it needs to happen on his time. That goes for everyone in my opinion. You can't force someone or yourself to be ready or be in the mindset to do somethings. You have to actually be there otherwise just waiting for disaster. He was honest and that is admirable. It just isn't the time for y'all.

Men become ready whenever they are ready. There’s nothing that any woman can say or do differently or better than any other woman to make a man change. Any dude that says anything like that to avoid commitment, just doesn’t want that commitment. There’s nothing anyone can do for a man to be ready to settle down. I firmly believe it has a lot more to do with timing, than anything. For example, WHEN he decides he’s ready, he may evaluate his current relationship and see if there is that potential, if not, he will go find someone who is. Even the most perfect woman won’t make a man commit who isn’t ready.

You may like this particular man, but if he is not in a place to protect you and provide for you, he is not the man for you. Do not waste your precious time and youth waiting for him to fulfill potential promises. Understand the value you bring, and move on to another man that can bring you the same value, in his own right, in return.
