Preeclampsia scare

Catharine

27 weeks here. I have been needing to go to a specialist in conjunction with my ob for a little while because of an autoimmune disorder that’s non threatening. Just to keep an eye on things - I kinda liked it at first because I basically get a growth scan every visit.

The past 2 times I’ve gone however I’ve had abnormally high blood pressure. This has only been occurring at their office not at my normal OB…I am suspicious that their techs aren’t trained or their cuff is not right…Anyways, met with the dr and was a little let down. He was very doomsday about preeclampsia threat and they had told me baby is measuring small. Like told me baby’s head measurements were in the 5th percentile which was alarming! I told him how some members of my family are small boned but he ignored me.

Walked out of there really worried but I’m looking into things and 2 lbs is normal baby weight according to multiple sources online. Also I called back to get exact measurements of the baby and the tech couldn’t read the chart.

They were using data collected from their office to measure my baby against which makes me wary but I’m not sure if this is common practice? I am going to buy my own cuff and start taking my own BP daily. I’m considering asking for a new specialist referral when I visit my reg OB next week.

Anyone have experience with high blood pressure during pregnancy? How did you know you had preeclampsia/what was done about it? Did a dr spook you about preeclampsia and you were fine? Need some advice.
