Can i deliver at any hospital I want?

So I want to deliver in the same hospital as my previous birth but my doctors office got a new ob and she is at a different hospital and they really push it to have me deliver at that hospital.  I said no I'd like to deliver at the same one and she said it'll be better if it's at the other one because she's going to be there and she's been monitoring me the whole pregnancy.  I'm just already used to the one I delivered since my nieces were both born there and my daughter. And the other hospital is like an hour away and the one I have delivered at is only like 20 min away. Like if I just go into labor can I go into with ever hospital or do I have to go to where my ob sends me

You can deliver where you want. They aren’t being honest with you if they say it’s because she will be there. The on call doctor will likely deliver you. There’s no guarantee that you will get your own doctor. Go where you want.

You can go to whatever hospital you want; just know that your OB may not be able to be there. Not all doctors are allowed to work at every hospital. They have to be accepted by the hospital to work there. So if you go into labor and go to the one you want to there will be a different doctor delivering your baby, instead of the OB you choose. You just need to weight the pros and cons of hospital vs doctor.

Honestly my actual OB didn't deliver either of my kids. It was after hours both times and she wasn't on call. I absolutely loved her and was so excited for her to be there and it just happened that way. I only pushed for less than 10 minutes for both so I got the OB that I loved through the whole pregnancy and then for those 10 minutes each time I had someone new. It didn't make a difference at that point because I was so in the moment. As long as there's not an issues with your pregnancy you can go to whatever hospital you want. If there are issues that your OB has been monitoring then I would go to her hospital because she already knows what's been going on and can act quicker than someone who has to read up about it on your chart.

Go to the one you want, I wouldn't want to drive an hour away if you have a closer hospital. I never had my ob or midwife for both my births, the first ob just finished her shift so I got the next available doctor, the second time my midwife didn't get there in time when I was ready to push so I got whatever doctor was available. I'd just make sure it's all good with insurance if that's applicable (I'm in Ontario Canada so I didn't need to pay anything)

As long as they take your insurance and you plan ahead with them.

If your insurance allows it, you could go to the preferred facility if your choice (PPO).. might be a higher deductible cost to you if you don’t go to the preferred group tho.  If not you would need to stay within your medical group (HMO).. if you don’t have insurance you’d be considered a cash pay patient and you could go wherever.
