HSG Test
First time posting… just want to share my HSG experience for any ladies anxious about having it performed. I know it was helpful to me prior to my test to read what others shared about their experience.
It was painful. Not unbearable but it hurt quite a bit. I felt the cramping they said I would with the insertion of the catheter and beginning of the contrast being pushed in. However, as more and more contrast was added it became increasingly painful. (Example: I have 2 tattoos - one on the back of my neck and one on my inner arm. HSG was equal in pain to those maybe slightly more painful at the height of the contrast in my uterus.)
Once the contrast injection was over the pain did subside and they quickly removed everything which helped a lot with the discomfort. I had decent cramping and discomfort (full/bloated feeling) for an hour afterwards and that was it. Pain/discomfort was all gone. I did have some light spotting that was contained with a panty liner.
My results were normal. No blocked tubes or issues noted. Fingers crossed this is my cycle!! 🤞🏼🙏🏼
Recommendations:
1. Take ibuprofen 30 minutes to an hour before procedure. I think it helped me a lot.
2. Have a driver to take you home. I’m glad my husband drove me. I was still pretty uncomfortable and while I think I could have driven I was definitely distracted by the pain/uncomfortableness.
You’ve got this ladies!! ❤️ You can make it through the pain/discomfort. The whole procedure lasted 15 minutes. You can breathe through that pain/discomfort for 15 minutes!! 😘
