How to vote if you hate both parties

Based on a previous post, if you hate both options for president ( because we all know 3rd party gets nowhere ) what should someone do ? People say that people shouldn't have voted for Biden because they didn't want to vote for trump but what other option is there if third party candidates never get through and this only wastes a vote ? If you are strongly against one and mostly against another it really just forces people into making decisions that don't fit their own beliefs and values. Of course this is an issue with our entire set up but with things how they are what is a person to do ? For example: more left leaning folks really don't agree with Biden but obviously wouldn't vote for trump either ... I also know many republicans who hated trump but would never vote democrat ..so what's the best course of action ?
