Giving reborn babies formula in a formula shortage

So I fell into a weird rabbit hole on tik tok somehow. if you type in 'reborn babies formula' you can see some of the many videos about it but some started popping up in my feed a few days ago.

For those who don't know a reborn baby is a realistic baby doll. Some people collect them and treat them like real babies, feeding them , bringing them in public, etc. There's lots of accounts of reborn 'moms' showing their routines with their baby dolls and sometimes they trade them and adopt them out. Some people use them as therapy.

Some of these people are using real baby formula to 'feed' the dolls (sometimes like 7 bottles a day one person said 😳) and are very open about how they 'need' this formula, which has made many human parents upset due to a formula shortage in many areas right now. There's a lot of back and forth between the doll moms and the human baby moms over if this is wrong.

The reborn mom's are saying people should respect their choice , and that they can buy whatever they want and it's not their responsibility to make sure human babies get formula. Some are saying people are being 'ableist ' because the dolls are therapeutic.

And the human baby parents as you can imagine are upset because these people are feeding fake babies real formula that some parents are having an extremely hard time getting right now, and find it irresponsible and pointless for these people to be buying up formula while parents worry about feeding real live babies that actually need nutrition.

So now I'm seeing that some of these reborn people are trolling moms by purposely posting themselves buying the formula and saying they don't care, to get a rise out of people. I've seen quite a few leave comments saying anyone who calls a reborn a fake baby is ableist or whatever else as well.
