Am I protected from pregnancy and are those symptoms normal for bc?

I started taking birth control ( the pill) on Jan 21st which was the first day of my period. I then had unprotected sex on cycle day 7. I’ve take pills at the same time everyday. I usually ovulate around day 14/15. I just want to make sure im protected from pregnancy. My doctor didn’t explain anything to me ( im 15 and never taken birth control before) and my mom also blocks my Internet access on my phone. So I don’t really know anything about it. Should I be all set?

Also I’ve been spotting and cramping every single day ( I’m on day 13) the cramps aren’t awful. And the spotting is sometimes bright red or dark brown. Is that normal for just stating it?
