Pcos confusion ( LONG READ)
Hey ladies,
I’m hope I can get some clarification and encouragement on my pcos journey.
Long story short, I’m 22 and was diagnosed with pcos at 19. At the time of diagnosis I had gone 8 months without having a cycle and had begun to grow some facial hair on my chin. My GP sent me to get a trans vaginal ultrasound to look for cysts on my ovaries, they found a lot of tiny cysts or “ immature follicles” I’m not sure to be honest. All of my hormonal
Testing was well as the ultrasound showed I do have pcos. I was offered birth control to stop the hair growth and bring my cycle back but I wanted to see what lifestyle changes I could make first. So I went on a weight loss journey. Started at 210 and dropped down to 160 in a little over a year. Got my periods back, skin cleared up, but still had the facial hair growth ( Been waxing 😩🤷🏻♀️)
Fast forward another year. I’ve maintained my healthy lifestyle and weight. My periods are still coming every month, still have chin whiskers 😑
Anyways I’ve been with my man for 5 years and we have been heavily discussing marriage and everything that comes along with it. I’m not sure if I will be able to have children. It hasn’t bothered me since my diagnosis… but I love the man I’m with so much, I would love to have a family with him, and it has been weighing on me heavy that it might not be a possibility. Honestly it’s been a really emotional subject for me recently. I’m not sure if I’m ovulating. I have no idea if having a cycle every month means you’re ovulating also. I’m just lost.
I was hoping y’all could maybe share a some words of wisdom, success stories, tips to help with my facial hair/ androgen levels… just anything. Also maybe how to open up to my partner about how I feel? He’s well aware of my diagnosis, he’s been here through it all.
