Breastfeeding
Hey Mamas!
This is my first time breast feeding this long (little is 8.5 months old) how does the supply change as the little ones eat more foods? How many times a day is everyone nursing? How many times by 12 months? What is this transition “supposed” to look like?
We currently do 3 meals a day, breast feed on demand and about 30-60 minutes before a meal still with milk to drink or in the food during.
EDIT
For everyone following I called a local dietician and this is the info I was given!
At 8-10 months they should still be having their usual milk (16-30 oz just depending on the kid) by 12 months it’s about 16 oz (of course more or less depending on your kid) and 3meals and 2-3 snacks a day. One of the biggest things she said after 6 months and especially before you switch to cows milk is that they have a good iron intake. Some iron sources mentioned: fortified baby cereals (they are also good for baking and half the flour replaced with baby cereal), meats including beef and turkey, beans, peas, lentils, also some peanut butter, eggs and tofu
