Am I overthinking it? Or is it rude to leave someone on read?

Question

I have autism so I’m a little weird with social interactions. I do try; I have a husband... a few friends. But most interactions I find hard. I have been trying to interact more with people. 
I know this lady from college. She posted on her story on Instagram about homeschooling programs being better in different states and not the state she is living in (Georgia). I live in one of the states she was complimenting. So I replied to the story:
“I’ve heard amazing things about **insert program name here**, what do you think is superior about it? I am contemplating it for my son.” 
But she never replied. She read the message but didn’t respond. I tend to overthink social interactions when they don’t pan out normally. So now I am thinking, did she perceive my message to her as bragging that I live in a state with a “better” program? Does she think I’m some weirdo she hasn’t talked to in 7 years so why am I replying to her story asking her a question? Am I just overthinking it? I always find it kind of rude to leave someone on read and I try to never do that to people, so I’m taken aback that it happened to me.

Try not to overthink it. She may have just forgotten to reply. I read messages and then realize a week later I never answered, or I typed out a response but didn’t actually send it. She might also just be a bad communicator, which is in no way a reflection on you.

No one is entitled to a conversation, it isn’t rude to not want to have a conversation with someone. Just because you ask doesn’t mean they have to discuss something with you. It’s nice if they choose to but it isn’t rude not to, especially if it’s a random person you’re not close with.

She probably doesn’t know about that program or she’s having multiple conversations with different people about it and forgot to respond to your message. Don’t worry about it she’ll get back to you if she has something to say about it, if not you can move on

I have often accidentally left people on read or I'm busy at the time. You aren't entilited to her time. She doesn't need to reposnd to you on the drop of a dime. She could be busy, or maybe just forgot to hit send on the reply like I do very often. But to answer your question no its not rude to leave people on read. They got your message they are not forced to respond to it automatically.

I think you are overthinking it. 
When she read it she might have not been in the mood to respond for some other reason. Sometimes people are overwhelmed or emotional or too tired, or distracted before they can respond. 
I don't think it's necessarily rude to leave people on read. It can be, but I try to be understanding since, I get very antisocial and have a hard time replying to messages, especially public comments.
