Diaper party?

So my husband and I live 6-12 hours away from all of our family. We’re thinking about going to see my family in a few months, but would it be weird to have a diaper party/family get together when we’re home? Haven’t seen my extended family in over a year. Don’t wanna seem like it’s just a gift grab because we have a majority of the typical baby things already. But I’m a little annoyed that my aunts threw my cousin a shower a few months ago and I’m going to get nothing. Thoughts?
