My cousin told me this 😭😭😭

My cousin told me she broke up with her bf a few years ago and since the breakup she noticed that when she goes out sometimes people would look at her to the point where she doesn’t want to go out anymore. Her bf spread multiple rumors about her and a few more people since the breakup. She told me she’s starting to feel unsafe because of him and the rumors being passed around. Some of the rumors were so bad people started to get targeted based on them yet he’s also received backlash from some of the things he’s said. I’m not sure how I can make my cousin feel safer and more comfortable, I told her record any interaction if something were to happen, carry pepper spray and try to learn self defense but I’m not sure if it would work.
