Repeat CSection

I had a CSection with my first and I would actually prefer to have one for my second, will I need to list my reasons or defend my choice? Or will that just be accepted? I know every doctor is different, just wondering what y’all’s experience was if you had a repeat.

Nope, you are eligible for an elective section and do not need to defend your choice. Depending on the reason for your first c-section, your doctor may want you to have a C over VBAC anyhow.

Most docs generally prefer a repeat csection over a vbac, it’s usually the vbac you have to fight for. So you’re fine

Nope. Having one is a good enough reason for insurance to approve a second. At least for me it was 🤷🏼‍♀️

You’re automatically eligible for a scheduled c-section once you’ve had a c-section already. A lot of OBs prefer it because they can schedule it during their regular working ours and it’s a very controlled environment. It’s the VBACs that stress (some) OBs out lol

Had one with my first and got pregnant almost 5 years later and was able to have one. I asked my Dr and he gave me the choice and since I was having my tubes tied and had our oldest to have to plan to stay somewhere that's what we did with no issue

I switched doctor groups with my second (insurance reasons) and they requested the surgical report from my old hospital just to see what went down. That, plus me saying I would prefer a C-section again was plenty. 1/5 doctors kept trying to talk me into a vbac but eventually gave up haha

You automatically qualify even if you qualify for a vbac. Talk to your dr.

My hospital doesn’t offer VBACs so I didn’t have to worry about it! But I would definitely talk to your doctor. I wanted no parts of a VBAC so it wasn’t an issue for me, scheduling the section just made more sense for us. To my knowledge, you shouldn’t have to defend yourself, but every hospital/provider is different so definitely double check with them.
