Is calling someone a dork mean?

I got told I was “rude” for calling someone a dork in a joking manner. I thought me and this person were better friends. It was actually another person who got upset that I called him a dork 😂 idk. I feel like it was a bit ridiculous.

People are overtly sensitive now a days. Literally you can't even say to someone "your shoe laces are untied" without offending them. Somehow that'd turn into them thinking you told them their legs were twisted. 
Unless you weren't joking I don't think it's something to be so twisted about.

People find just about anything to be offended about these days. It’s not my problem and not worth the sweat off my back, it shouldn’t be your problem either and I wouldn’t worry about what others may say or think so much.

I call my husband a dork all the time . He doesn’t think it’s rude . I don’t see how it’s rude , it’s like calling someone silly in my opinion .

I think it depends on the person and their experiences. I used to use ‘geek’ almost as a term of endearment. I meant nothing negative by it and used it only towards those I was close to. When I first got with my now husband I used it as well and after a bit he called me out for it. I think he may have had a bad experience with it and looked at it differently than I did.

To me it means silly or goofy… Lol but I looked it up and I guess the real definition is a bit rude 😂 it means stupid, unfashionable, socially awkward, socially inept. I think now tho it’s socially a lighthearted nickname. It’s not that serious

People are too sensitive anymore these days. You can’t talked to anyone anymore without someone getting offended. I wouldn’t worry about it.
