Have you started potty training?

My husbands family is putting some pressure on potty training my son since he just turned 2. I just don’t feel like he is ready yet. We have a potty for him and a potty seat also on the toilet. He has sat on it, but doesn’t fully understand yet. He also has a speech delay. I feel like we will know when he is ready and showing more signs.

The age for potty training is fluctuating fot the past years. Im a preschool teacher and when they start in my room at the age of 3 they usually are in the mid point of potty training. Mine is 2 and change. Hes peed and pood once but he seemed to have lost his interest at home. He is trying at scho though.

I encourage her sitting on it fully clothed and try to get her to go before bed but she's only peed on it once before bed. I haven't had days off to really try with her so we will get to it eventually.

I read Oh crap it’s potty training and followed that method. My girl is doing great. The author recommends starting as close to 2 years old as you can.

I’m honestly not in a big hurry, I want to make sure he’s ready before trying because if I push it too soon it’ll just backfire. I’m waiting until he’s 2.5 and can better understand instructions and rewards. I’ve also heard boys take longer than girls to potty train (not scientific but just what I’ve heard ha) my nephew wasn’t fully 100% potty trained until his 3rd birthday
