Failed D&C **TMI WARNING
Just posting this because I didn't see anyone else going through this. On 4/20, my husband and I found out that our baby didnt have a heart beat. They had stopped growing at 8 weeks 6 days. I chose to do the d&c as I figured that would be the least traumatic option for us. They got me in on 4/21 and it was probably one of the hardest days of our lives.
After the procedure, they told me everything went well and that it was good that I went in as it would have taken a long time on its own. They told me they would call to check on me, and never did. They didn't schedule a post op appointment. They just kind of sent me on my way.
On 4/26, my bleeding had gotten heavier and I passed a large clot. I called the number the hospital gave me, and waited 2 hours for an advice nurse to call me back. As I was on the phone I felt myself passing more clots. I told the nurse what was happening and she told me I dont need to come in unless I was soaking a pad within an hour, 2 hours in a row, with large clots, feeling faint or ringing ears. I went to the bathroom, and had filled a pad with clots. Luckily I didn't listen to the nurse and went to the ER.
As I was waiting for 2 hours to be seen, I stood up to go to the restroom to see if it had stopped enough for me to go home instead of continuing to wait. As soon as I stood up I felt a huge gush and sat back down. My husband wanted to check to make sure I'm okay, so we go to the bathroom and im covered in blood. He got a nurse and they took me back immediately. The er doctor tried to tell me this was normal, but ordered an ultrasound anyway. They brought the ob in and she told me that they didn't get everything with the first procedure, so they had to do it again.
This week has been probably the worst of my life. I was so scared that something horrible would happen to me. Im feeling let down by the doctor that performed my surgery, and idk how we will ever get the courage to try again. I just wish that our baby was ok and that none of this had to happen.
