Stay at home mom until they start school and then if I could pick back up my career where it left off that would be awesome. I like my job and love being financially independent but these early years are so short, I wish I could be their primary care giver.

Working mom and daycare. We love our daycare! It’s small with only 12 kids registered and 2 workers. The whole 12 aren’t usually there so it’s only about 7 kids-8 kids and they do so many fun things. Camp week, beach week, birthday parties, field trips, and they are working with my 4 year old who can now write his name, knows his letters, knows numbers to 20, colors, shapes, etc. My daughter is 1 and LOVES the two workers. She literally brings me her shoes in the morning because she’s excited to go. We tried doing the in-home thing with family and while I know they were loved, when my son went to daycare there was a huge difference in how he acted around other kids and his behavior in general improved. When we had a loss in the family and their SO could no longer babysit for us two days a week, the other family members that had him the other 3 couldn’t take him 5 days so we had to put him in daycare and it caused a lot of grieving for him because his relationships with those family members changed as well, not just the one who passed. He adjusted well and is very social now, more outgoing, and is learning like crazy. He really struggles with emotions when he’s at home and we are visiting those family members. Looking back, I really wish we had just done daycare from the beginning. Both of us working allow for trips, housing improvements, etc that benefit the kids.

I am a SAHM with my own business that I don’t run the day to day so really I am mostly a SAHM. I think I would love a nanny because I don’t get breaks. But every time I imagine it, I see myself having to observe the nanny so ultimately it would just be more work. I just don’t trust anyone…my son is 3.5 years old so I suppose about the time I find someone I trust with him, he’ll be old enough to not need a nanny.
