Night potty trained kids - do they wear undies or no undies?

Question

This is out first and only child.  We just night time potty trained our daughter and it came up that we don't actually know if it's better for kiddos to wear or not wear undies at night.  I can see if both ways. 
No undies = easier to get jammy pants down at 2am and more comfy (IMO)
Undies = a normal feeling for kids of having underwear on their bodies so maybe that feeling will help with not having accidents.

I put my daughter in pull ups for her nap and for bedtime. She always wakes up dry and knows “Peepee in the potty. Not in the diaper”.  But this way if she wakes up and really needs to go and can’t hold it I don’t have pee in the bed and an upset kid who knows she messed up. She gets really sad when she has an accident so I’ve found the diaper helps her feel like she’s succeeding and keeps the potty training a positive experience.

I don't think either way is going to wreck things, but I'd tend to think if you're trying to teach independence/adult skill, do what an adult would do. Put on panties and pajama bottoms. 
If you did want to make it easier, I'd do panties only and leave the pants off till the kid could handle them to your satisfaction.
