Pump to donate
So I recently just had twins 7 weeks ago. I exclusively breastfeed them but I have to pump for at least 10-15 minutes an hour after I feed them because I get engorged (I try not to because I know the more you remove the more you make). I breastfed my first daughter and had an oversupply with her, I had about 10,000 ounces of milk in my freezer, deep freezer, and parents freezers by the time I was done breastfeeding. I gave her a lot through straw cups for about 6 months, I gave her milk baths, I had soap made from it. And still ended up throwing a lot of it out.
This time around with the formula shortage I don’t want to be selfish and end up throwing a lot out but I also want to make sure that I will have enough for my babies. I end up pumping about 5 times a day and make about 40 oz in those 5 pumps. I already have 600 oz in the freezer. Do you think I’m in the clear to start donating or should I wait?
