Dry scalp 😩😩

Question

Help!!!! I’ve dealt with dry scalp for years and it’s become a huge insecurity, because I used to love my hair!!! What’s some products or hair care that’s helped you??!! Google is a hit or miss sometimes and I finally thought of getting actual advice from real people (after years of hiding, I finally get the idea of going on a forum at like 11 at night!) Any advice is appreciated 💖💖

Im a cosmetologist & esthetician! I would highly recommend getting a scalp treatment done at a salon! This will really help remove all the dead skin off the scalp so when you follow it with a detoxifying shampoo it can really do it’s job! Like when you exfoliate your skin. :) hope this helps!

I suffer the same thing, especially in the winter. Once a week I do a baking soda and tea tree oil wash, 1 tablespoon baking soda, a few drops of tea tree oil, and 1/4-1/2 cup water. Let that sit a few minutes then rinse. Next I use 1-2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar, 2 drops lavender oil (for smell) and the same water as above. I let that sit a few minutes and rinse. I'll do a vinegar rinse through the week if I notice my scalp getting bad again. For me, this is the only thing that's worked. And I've tried so many things. Make sure you really work the mixes into your scalp if you try this. And if you do I hope you have good luck. I know I do!

I don’t know what kind of hair you have, but they opAlex that someone else recommended, completely stripped my hair, and it was coming on almost in sheets like dandruff but pieces. Have you tried Selsun blue or head and shoulders, have you spoken with the dermatologist to see if they can recommend something for you, I don’t know if you have African-American hair, if you have completely straight hair, damaged etc. I personally am half Spanish half Middle Eastern, but I use from Sally’s beauty supply a line called my black is beautiful I have different products, take a look at them but I have dry and damaged hair myself, it’s like a C-3 C-4 for curly.    They have two lines from that same company, I will check it out one is more geared for skilled care, they have a cooling serum, all different ones. I use the golden milk line my favorite is the intense recovery conditioner that they have it’s a deep conditioner I use a daily. But give them a look on Sally’s beauty supply just type in my black is beautiful.

I use a scalp brush similar to this, and I use the head and shoulders conditioner with almond oil directly on my scalp. Been dealing with the same thing for years. I know some people have dry scalp because of psoriasis or eczema; if you're struggling to find a shampoo/conditioner for either of those, try using a lotion as a scalp conditioner. Probably wouldn't look great on your hair, but if using it for a week or two calms your scalp down it might be worth it.

I had the same issue but it was the type of dandruff I kept getting wrong. I needed a selenium sulfide shampoo to cure my problem. Nizoral is also a really good one since it has an anti fungal in it.

This definitely helped me. It helps with my dandruff without making my hair/scalp greasy like every other dandruff shampoo I've tried.
