do colposcopies require a biopsy ?

I tested positive for hpv and they want to do a colposcopy on me. my primary care physician says that i shouldn’t get the colposcopy due to me only being 22 and i have a high chance in fighting off the virus. i am scared not to get it because i don’t want cancer or to miss anything? do they all require a biopsy or is it just a closer look at the cervix ? i also don’t want to become infertile , that’s my main concern as well.
