Hey ladies my son is around that age. 😕 I’m just wondering how you explained the sex talk. Please some help and advice. Lol I’m upset cause my son is growing up and I have to explain this but it needs to happen. His father thinks we should tell him next month around his bday.

I’ve been telling my kids as long as I can remember.
I have a 12 year old son and he knows everything.
Just be super blunt, don’t sugar coat things.
Tell him about vaginas and penises and whatnot. What sex consists of. 
I don’t want to say scare him,  but make it known about how serious stds, or teen pregnancy can be.
Let them know it’s ok to explore their body, not to be ashamed of anything. A time and a place is always important for those types of things.
If they have anyyyyy questions let them know they can always ask and they always have a safe space to talk about things.

How old is your child? 
Kids need to be taught body parts, appropriate terms, etc. very early on. Questions should be answered appropriately and honestly when asked at any age. Somewhere around 8 my oldest asked and we had an age appropriate sex talk. We continued every year with more information, answered specific questions. We did the same with my younger two. We went beyond the mechanics, have discussed emotional aspects, safety, pregnancy, how everything works for, menstrual cycle, etc. We’ve made sure they know they can come to us with any questions, needs or concerns. 
Have an open door policy.

We talk about sex to my 5yo and my 2yo definitely hears. He asks questions and we answer them truthfully and as anatomically correct as we can. It's a natural process and it's best he knows exactly what's going on before he starts getting his info elsewhere.

Sounds like you're late to this party. There shouldn't be one single talk as this should be an ongoing conversation starting as soon as they understand language and begin asking questions. This makes both parties more comfortable as the conversation becomes more indepth and complex. 
You'll have to begin by asking him what he already knows and you'll probably have to correct some misinformation he's gotten. There's a series of books by Robie Harris that can help facilitate these conversations.

My son got the talk from my husband a few years ago because we caught him watching porn. We were a little late to have the talk. So I recommend starting earlier and at least opening up the door letting him know that he can come and ask you anything. My son now is very open to talking about his body and changes, maybe a little too open, but it’s better than nothing.
