How to deal with unsolicited parenting advice?

What do you say when people give you parenting advice that you don’t want/ didn’t ask for? My in-laws are always getting on me about every little thing with my son, like how to cut his hair, how to discipline; really everything and anything you can think of.  They can be pretty aggressive and really don’t let up and get upset with me when I don’t follow it.  How can I get them to stop?

I would say thanks for the advice but I’m doing it my own way. 
What does your husband say to his parents? And also how does he feel? Your husband needs to deal with his own parents other wise put them in an information diet, they don’t need to know everything about your LO and id only be around my in-laws when my husband is around.

Honey I get it all the time from my in laws and my husband's grandmother trying to tell me how to pair up my 5 I constantly get told how to raise my children and everything else the easiest thing I can tell you to do smile at him and continue raising your children the way that you see fit just because they have their opinions don't mean you gotta take it remember this opinions are like a******* everybody's got one

At this point, I would just blandly say, "Thank you for sharing," and keep doing what I was doing exactly the way I was doing it. If they get upset when you don't follow their advice, you would be perfectly within your rights to say, "I love you, but if you are going to cause stress by getting upset with me when I don't parent the way you want me to, I will have no choice but to limit contact with you, which will limit the contact you have with your grandchildren." Put the ball firmly in their court. They'll have to decide what they value more, controlling you or having a meaningful relationship with their grandchildren.

Honestly if you've already discussed it with them I would just bluntly say "I didnt ask for your opinions or suggestions and suggest you keep them to yourself"

You say to them did you push this child out of your vagina, then you don’t get an opinion. While I appreciate you being in my life, I don’t appreciate the lack of respect that you have for me and I will not tolerate it. If you want to see my child then you will learn to respect me and if you don’t then you will not see my child. You need to set boundaries, you don’t tolerate bullshit, you don’t allow guilt or manipulation to make you change your mind, that is your child, that is your choice how you raise that child. If they get pissed off oh well hang up the phone, or leave their house. If your husband cannot get on board with this, he needs to set his parents straight and they need to respect your wishes. No more arguments after that

If you’ve already had conversations with them, I’d tell them to stop or stay away. I’m a pretty blunt person, so I’d just tell them they raised their kids let me raise mine. My mil has somewhat backed off with her opinions on my kids. I just disagreed with her firmly enough and never letting her sway me that I think she realized I don’t care what she thinks. She also knows I won’t just let her do what she wants and have her way when it comes to my kids.

I mean if they’re being aggressive about it then I wouldn’t care much about their feelings. I am stubborn though and I HATE when people are pushy with me, I flat out tell them it’s not happening so get over it, whatever they’re trying to push on me. So if you’ve told them you don’t want to hear it, I would tell them you’re done having these conversations, they’re unwanted and you will choose what you feel is best for your child. That YOU ARE THE PARENT, period. If they can’t respect that then you will remove yourself and your child whenever they start up the nonsense and I would make it clear that it’s NOT you limiting their time with you, it’s them not being able to control themselves and their aggressive opinions.

Sit down and have a grown up conversation. Tell them you appreciate it, but you will be the ones raising your children and that’s that. Let them know that they’re advice isn’t welcome and if they don’t stop, you will have to stop seeing them until they can respect your boundaries. Period. The end. You are grown.
