So I’ve been to see my consultant today, has said they want me to be induced at 39 weeks which is in five days time. Because of my baby being quite large and she said that if we let him get to big there is increased risk of shoulder dystocia. My baby is estimated to be over 8lb at my last scan which was last week. Anyway. She said that I will be induced but it could be a very long process especially as this is my first baby. I just feel like I haven’t been given enough information about what actually happens etc. She hasn’t even given me a time to go she just said induction on Tuesday?? She even offered to give me a sweep today, all this might I add and I haven’t had an internal examination. Is this normal practice? Can any share a thought to calm me down. I’m so confused right now.
