3 year old behaves differently when dad is around.
Here’s what happened…
Doctors appointment for wellness exam/establishing care. We met with the the nurse first. She took height, weight, blood pressure, asked both myself and my son questions. All was great. He was quiet, calm, sat still, listened, answered questions, etc. I know that’s a lot for a 3(almost 4) year old and not at all expected for that age.
But the reason for my post… my husband was running late and arrived just after that nurse left. We were waiting for the doctor to come in and my son started acting up. Refusing to sit, bouncing off the walls, not listening, making lots of noise. The doctor came in and for most of the time, this behavior continued. The doctor left and he continued this behavior. A few minutes later, my husband left also. My son and I stayed to wait for another nurse to do a vaccine and then go to the lab for a blood draw. My husband left and my son started behaving like he did when the nurse was there the first time. He didn’t act up at all. Sat still, took the vaccine without problems. Even did great at the blood draw(first ever). So my question to you…was this behavior because of my husband being present or just a coincidence? Is this one of those kinds of “seeking any kind of attention” things? What do you think?
