Just curious what does contractions feel like?

I hear people talk about contractions but I had no idea what they are suppose to feel like. If someone can explain that would be great! Just want to know for the future.

for me they first started off like braxton hicks, not painful just pressure. then it got like mild period cramps, then bad period cramps, then the worse period/poop cramps i've ever felt in my life multiplied 10x and by that point the pain was constant. couldn't talk or breathe during during them, felt like i was going to throw up and pass out. but by that point i needed to push so the really bad pain was short lived because as soon as you give birth the pain is gone thankfully! 
i had a very quick labor though, by the time i felt contractions they were around 7 minutes apart and quickly got closer together

Horrible period pain. Like the type where nothing helps and you just wanna curl up on the floor 😁 at least that's how I remember lol

With my first I went into labor on my own and it took me a good hour to figure out they were contractions.  I honestly just felt like I had to poop really really bad lol.

Mine felt like very strong downward pressure as well as a bad cramp concurrent with waves of nausea.

My contractions showed up as severe progressive waves of cramping in my lower back and hips. Unfortunately, I was stuck in early labor for 4-5 days with this. It got bad enough that I wanted the epidural for the hip pain (felt like someone was trying to crack my pelvis and rip my hips out), so I never felt painful contractions in the front, just waves of pressure.

I don't feel like mine are that terrible. They are like Braxton Hicks but instead of just in my belly they wrap around the back too. Try to think of them as waves, pressure instead of pain, and that each one is working towards bringing your baby closer. When it's time to push they usually get a bit more intense and it's harder to focus on breathing through as your whole body is squeezing baby out, but it's so important to breathe through them, don't hold your breath to push.

I've had them before and I don't even think I can describe it honestly 😂 A cramping feeling that's pretry intense. When in labor the best thing to do is really to focus on each wave and breathe through it and go in a bubble to just make it as tolerable as possible.
That's all I can tell from my first birth. I'm excited to see how I feel when it starts again. I've found out I can tell others are in birth 😂

I’ve always had very intense and painful period cramps so to me it felt like that just worse when it got close for me to start pushing.

Mine have never been terrible. Just use relaxing breathing and surrender to the pain. Like period cramps but more extreme.
